If you have to attempt to justify yourself, you probably already know that you are lacking in some way. An expert in the law came to Jesus with a question, "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" To which Jesus turned the question around on him, "What does the law say?" But after this expert repeated the two-part summary of the law (love God and love your neighbor), something in him knew that he was lacking. So, he asked, "And who is my neighbor?"
What follows is one of the most well-known parables in all of the Bible. It challenges us to see that the love that God requires is perfect and not restricted to a certain type of person. When we see this perfect standard of love, we know that we fall well short of it. However, we are convinced from Scripture that what we couldn't do, Jesus did perfectly for us. And that is the gospel!

A different kind of sermon this week — more teaching-focused, but still full of gospel. We dig into the doctrine of Predestination (Election): what it is, what it isn't, and why it matters. Drawing from Romans 8, Ephesians 1, and 2 Thessalonians 2, we address the common misunderstanding of double predestination, affirm that Christ died for all people, and unpack the "Golden Chain" — foreknown, predestined, called, justified, glorified — as the believer's anchor of assurance. Along the way, we ask why we try so hard to predict and control our own provision, and what it means to trust a God whose imagination — and love — far exceeds our own.

Why doesn't God get rid of evil right now? Jesus' Parable of the Wheat and the Tares (Weeds) answers that question — and explains why believers and unbelievers can look so similar until the final judgment.

We can seemingly muster up toughness for a while, but there comes a point when guilt, suffering, and the war within leave us beaten down and drained—not just in body, but in spirit. In this message, we look at how the Apostle Paul faced the same weariness: haunted by his past, battered by physical suffering and opposition, and locked in an internal struggle against his own sinful nature (Romans 7, 2 Corinthians 11). Yet Paul's confidence wasn't in his own strength but in Christ's rest. Jesus' invitation still stands: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Rest found in grace that forgives our past. Rest found in Christ's companionship amid suffering. Rest found in trusting him over our own effort in the spiritual battle within.
Guilt. Suffering. The war within. Three burdens, one answer—not your strength, but his rest.

Exodus 32 gives us one of Scripture's most brutal and beautiful moments in the same passage — 3,000 men killed by their own brothers, and a mercy that kept the entire nation alive. In this episode, we dig into the text and ask the question the whole Bible is building toward: how can God be fully just and fully merciful at the same time?
We trace the golden calf back to its Egyptian roots, sit with Aaron's stunning deflection, and follow Moses to the gate of the camp where he issues one of the most dramatic calls to decision in the Old Testament. Along the way, we look at the modern versions of the golden calf — the gods we quietly build out of politics, performance, and comfort — and why sin is better understood as betrayal than rule-breaking.
Moses tried to stand in the gap. He couldn't. But someone did.

"You are the hero of the story. Everything is going to work out in your favor." Triumphalism sounds inspiring — until the cancer comes back. Until the financial loss is met with more loss. Until the hard times just keep going.
In this episode, we look honestly at the gap between the triumphalist outlook and the reality of life in a broken world. And we ask a question that might be more personal than it first appears: do you pray to God like a good friend or a bad friend? Because there's a difference between a relationship and a performance — and God is after the real thing.
Our text is Jeremiah 20:7-13, one of Scripture's rawest prayers. Jeremiah has just been beaten and put in stocks by the chief temple officer. He is released, pronounces judgment, and then does something remarkable: he brings his unfiltered anguish straight to God. No performance. No curation. Just honest wrestling — and underneath it all, genuine faith.
Because that's what lament is. Not faithlessness. Not despair. Faith refusing to pretend.
